The scope.
Surface preparation and application of a durable, chemical-resistant epoxy coating to the press bay pit to enhance safety, maintain cleanliness, and extend the lifespan of the concrete surface.
Project details.
Surface Preparation
- Pit area thoroughly cleaned using industrial degreasers and high-pressure washing to remove oil, dust, and contaminants.
- Concrete mechanically ground with a diamond grinder to open pores and create a profile for epoxy adhesion.
- Cracks, spalls, and imperfections repaired with high-strength epoxy filler and sanded smooth for a level base.
Priming
- Applied a moisture-tolerant epoxy primer to seal the concrete and promote strong topcoat adhesion.
- Primer cured under controlled environmental conditions for optimal performance.
Epoxy Application
- Mixed a high-build, two-part industrial epoxy per manufacturer specifications.
- Applied using notched squeegees and back-rolled for even coverage and to remove air bubbles.
- Broadcast non-slip aggregate into the final coat in high-traffic areas to enhance safety.
Curing & Quality Control
- Coated surface cured under monitored temperature and humidity conditions.
- Final inspection confirmed a seamless, uniform finish with excellent adhesion and no visible defects.
The outcome.
The completed epoxy coating provides a seamless, chemical-resistant, and easy-to-clean surface that significantly improves the safety, durability, and appearance of the press bay pit.
