The scope.
Application of a high-performance epoxy coating to the pit foundation at the Polycon facility to protect the concrete against wear, chemical exposure, and moisture intrusion, while enhancing safety and cleanliness.
Project details.
Surface Preparation
The pit foundation was cleaned with industrial degreasers and pressure washing to remove oil, dust, and debris.
Once dry, the concrete surface was mechanically ground with a diamond grinder to open pores and ensure epoxy adhesion.
Cracks, spalls, and surface defects were repaired with an epoxy patching compound and smoothed for a uniform surface.
Priming and Coating
A moisture-tolerant epoxy primer was applied to seal the concrete and promote bonding.
After curing, a high-build, two-part epoxy coating was applied with squeegees and rollers for even coverage and air pocket elimination.
A non-slip additive was included in the final coat to improve traction and safety.
Curing and Quality Control
The epoxy was cured under controlled temperature and humidity to maximize performance and durability.
A final inspection verified coating thickness, adhesion, and overall finish quality.
The outcome.
The epoxy coating was successfully applied, resulting in a seamless, chemical-resistant, and easy-to-maintain surface. The upgraded pit foundation now offers enhanced durability, improved safety, and a professional appearance, contributing to the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the Polycon facility.
