The scope.

Completed a complex pit infill and floor restoration project within an active manufacturing facility. Scope included utility scanning, selective demolition, engineered backfill installation, lean-mix concrete placement beneath suspended slabs, and new reinforced concrete floor slabs — all completed while maintaining safe access and ongoing operations.

Utility Scanning and Selective Demolition
Completed GPR utility scanning and selective demolition of existing concrete, embedded steel, rails, and pit components.

Pit Preparation and Backfilling
Prepared and compacted subgrades, followed by staged installation of engineered pea stone backfill beneath suspended slabs and within pit areas.

Lean-Mix Concrete Placement
Performed core drilling and placed lean-mix concrete to fill voids and create a stable bearing surface.

Reinforcement and Slab Construction
Installed reinforcing dowels with injectable epoxy, applied bonding agents at cold joints, and constructed new reinforced concrete floor slabs designed for heavy industrial use.

The outcome.

NRF Contracting successfully restored full floor functionality within a live production environment through the installation of engineered backfill and reinforced concrete slabs. The project was completed to structural and geotechnical requirements while minimizing operational disruption through careful sequencing and safety-focused execution.
