Soralauce Boring Mill Foundation

Defense Contractor

The scope.

This project involved a complex structural design of a Soralauce Boring Mill Foundation. The job included excavation through shale, angle fabrication and installation, rebar installation, detailed forming, plumbing work for coolant recycling and concrete finishing.

Project details.

Site Preparation & Excavation
We began with a GPR scan to locate buried utilities and set up full-height tarps for dust control. The concrete floor was sawcut and removed, debris properly sorted, and excess soil stockpiled for environmental testing before being hauled off-site.

Foundation Construction
A 150mm Granular A base was placed and compacted, reinforced with 15mm rebar, and fitted with PVC as per drawings. The foundation was poured in two stages—first the base, then the walls and electrical trenches.

Concrete & Finishing
Forms were built for conveyor and wire trenches, sump pits, and foundation walls. 30MPa concrete was poured with a trowel finish, and ½” isolation joints installed to prevent vibration transfer. Control joints were cut and sealed the following day.

Installation & Cleanup
We drilled 56 core holes for anchor bolts, levelled the machine, and secured it with Sika 212 grout. Forms were taken down, and a site cleanup was conducted at the end of the job to gather all excess materials, tools and equipment used.

The outcome.

The machine foundation was successfully completed with paying attention to detail, supplying all necessary tools and material to have the job done effectively and efficiently. All drawings were followed to meet all regulations to ensure that the final foundation was built to code, and in a safe manner.
